How do you handle your recipes?
This week I was working on pulling together witches' answers to the survey question "What's a system or process that you tried to optimize your household that didn't work out?" I have some takeaways that I think will make many of you feel a lot better in that you are far from alone in not landing on some enforceable, manageable way to handle your household chores/screen time/laundry/meal planning. The bad news is that I don't have a system that DOES work but maybe you will stop telling yourself it's not working because you're not on top of it.
But then my dad told me that after some tests to follow up on this, my mom has probably Alzheimer's and maybe this (more testing to be done) so I took one of the mental breaks I feel entitled to after I get some sort of aging parent info that knocks me out.
Anyway as I pull the issue together, I noticed someone mention something I've been wanting to ask witches about for awhile now:
"I am always changing how I organize recipes."
Do you like your system? I currently have a hard copy system I copied from my mother that involves cutting out keepers and taping them into a binder. I used to also copy her star rating system but I think I'm just going to indicate make-agains. I've been thinking about buying myself an e-reader for a trip later this year makes me wonder if that's a great opportunity to start cooking via screen instead of the ol' greasy binder.
What's your system? Honestly I will admire it more the more arcane it is.Tell me in the comments, which are open to all.

Thanks for reading Evil Witches, a newsletter for people who happen to be mothers. We haven't talked about food in awhile! You can find more content about cooking, and how parenthood can make you hate it so much and yet it still happens, here.
Just a reminder you can get 20% off your first month of Faye if you use the code EVILWITCH20. (I will get a little kickback if you use that code). You can read my original unpaid Faye endorsement here. My Faye adviser has been helping us get shit for our kid's birthday party and find down someone to do hearing testing for my parents. Things I'm so glad to outsource.
You can also find me talking here on this podcast: If you're a paid reader and want access to the subscriber only audio stuff let me know!
