What is this place, where I see people who are not my family?
My friends are here. My siblings are not.
I have to wear shoes all the time.
I have to —
I cannot wear my pajamas all day anymore.
I must wake up before noon.
Recess is much shorter. And only once a day.
I have to —
I’m supposed to sit still.
My teacher doesn’t disappear into the bathroom with her phone.
We don’t watch nearly as many screens.
Aaargh!! Hello? I said, I have to —
The person who gives me lunch is different from my teacher.
My teacher isn’t also on Zoom meetings while she’s supposed to be teaching
Tengo que hablar español.
I can’t yell inside anymore.
I can’t eat snacks whenever I want.
This teacher expects me to finish my work and doesn’t say “You know, what, FORGET IT!!” before I’m done.
Ugggggh! Excuse me? I’m TRYING TO SAY, I have to —
My friends look different than when I last saw them.
I learn until 3 PM instead of 11:25 AM or earlier.
I’m supposed to ask to go to the bathroom.
I have this bag now and I need to remember to bring things to and from my house.
I WAS TRYING TO SAY, I HAVE TO WAIT MY TURN TO TALK NOW?!!
But at least this teacher doesn’t cry and yell and drink as much.
