It really is something that women have to suffer planned diarrhea and anesthesia come down to have an excuse to relax and be left alone 😭 I’m a new mom and I’m already looking forward to a colonoscopy lol
haha wow. I don’t remember enjoying my wisdom teeth recovery in the slightest… but it was detracting from my partying in college, so I guess it’s all about perspective 😂
Agree with all of the colonoscopy advice. My one tip is that if you can get propofol instead of Versed, do it! Instantly out and back and zero hangover. Also everytime I see one of those cologuard commercials I start singing “Shit in a box” to the tune of “Dick in a box”
Unfortunately, I have colon cancer history on both sides of my family (this is from generations of women swallowing their misery), so I am an every 5-year candidate. Mailing it may be convenient, but I would not trust it.
I stopped drinking and such 25 years ago, so it's been a while since I have been in an "altered" state. After my last colonoscopy, I was so high from the anesthesia that I drunk called and texted a bunch of relatives and friends. Those VMs haunt me to this day.
100 percent do a colonoscopy. I've read that Colorguard (mine literally arrived in the mail an hour ago; thanks, insurance provider, but I didn't ask for that, and plus, I'm 58 and not due for another look at my colon until 2027!) isn't as effective as the real thing. As others have shared, the real thing isn't awful at all. The prep is tolerable. Suck a menthol-flavored cough drop as you suck the prep through a straw to hide the taste.
I did my first colonoscopy in january and I am pro afternoon appointment. You can get a good nights sleep between your two preps. You don’t have to wake up early at all for the second half. You are very very hungry by the time of the appointment. I got mad at my husband for making a post lunch coffee because it smelled too good and I don’t even like coffee! Took the prep very cold with a straw chased with apple juice. I used a timer to get me to drink it not too fast but in less than an hour and basically did two long pulls on the straw with chaser every ten minutes until it was done. The two hours of prep drinking were the worst part. The drugs were great.
thank you! that's nice of you to ask. It is a lot better; I'm sure longer days helps. I don't feel alone though in saying I have felt kind of cuckoo this week but it is cuckoo times (politically and also no school/no real camp yet, here)
I would actually really love that, I check to see if my library bought it every week but I can’t do a request they purchase it until after the actual release date.
2-The books have currently been claimed aside from Kate's (which I accidentally purchased extras of ). I'll follow up with the folks who have claimed books about sending them out.
3-I took my kids to the dentist today while my husband got tested positive for strep throat. I know at least one other witch who has it--who else has early summer illness?
Both kids and husband have had some sort of crud. So far I've missed it, but all day I've felt slightly off--just in time for husband and older kid to head to Europe while I'm solo with younger one.
Call me evil, but what I'm really looking forward to is cleaning the upstairs bathroom (girls' bathroom) and then youngest not being able to blame the completely disgusting mess she makes on older sister. It will be clear that it is indeed her who cannot manage to get a single kleenex into the trash can. Responsibility will fall with a loud clunk on her shoulders.

When I got my wisdom teeth out post-kids that was kinda nice (I lucked into an easy experience)

I am probably late to this game but I would love a copy of Jo Piazza's book if that is something you can do.
Also, I'm a big fan of sending my poop in the mail. If something comes back abnormal from that test than I will schedule a colonoscopy.
Thanks Danielle! Someone else claimed it but I'll let Jo know there is extra interest in her book...
Related: how is your fatigue Claire? I know we all encouraged you to get blood tests a few weeks ago. Hoping you're feeling better!

Not urgent but when you have a sec will you email me your address at ew.clairezulkey@gmail.com? Thanks!
Do you have your eye on one in particular?
Fan Favorite or Everyone is Lying as I lean towards fiction.
Edited: I just discovered I have three of Adrienne's books to give away so you get Fan Favorite so another witch can get Jo's book.
Whatever I end up with will be lovely!
I’ll get you Jo’s book since it looks like Adrienne’s 2 have been claimed
2 notes to say:
1-Thank you for reading!

I hope it’s not too bad and maybe the house will be kinda nice with half as many people in it.

you’re evil (complimentary)
